After capturing carbon dioxide, the materials give it up easily so that the CO 2 can be used in making other substances, or permanently isolated from the environment. Instead of considering CO 2 as a problematic and unwanted combustion byproduct, it should be seen as a valuable feedstock for the production of fuels and materials.
