A fleet of 225 car2go smart “car2go edition” vehicles in Vancouver, British Columbia, is now ready for use in the free-floating carsharing service. The car2go vehicles that are readily available to be driven can be viewed on the internet or with a smartphone app, and can be driven for as long as needed without committing to a return time.

The total number of neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs)—low-speed street-legal electric vehicles—on the world’s roadways will grow from 479,000 in 2011 to 695,000 by 2017, a 45% increase, according to a new forecast by Pike Research. The fleet market makes up about 70% of the global NEV marketplace, Pike says.
