The pilot-scale project use both free (soluble) sugars and biomass (cellulosic) sugars from Ceres’ sweet sorghum hybrids grown in Alabama, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana and Tennessee. Ceres first commercialized its improved hybrids in Brazil this season.

A visit to the gas station takes minutes not seconds and so the California Air Resource board, when it established fast charging standards, set the goal of charging the batteries to 80% in 10 minutes. One of the biggest reasons is that we don’t need to charge batteries in 2 seconds, as useful as that would be.

Therefore, until we get quick-charge batteries -- based on new breakthroughs, Ill take a WAG and estimate that we will have real 5-minute quick-charge batteries in perhaps 10 years -- we are likely to get our juice mostly from our home chargers. Battery swapping wouldnt make economic sense without a considerable degree of standardization.
