Cadillac debuted its first EV, the Lyriq, for 2023, and its second model is due to hit the streets for 2025. The Optiq will be here soon, and the automaker recently released pricing for the new model. Earlier this year, Cadillac promised the Optiq would start at around $54,000, and it came close to hitting that commitment.

Honda believes the Prologue hits the “sweet spot” of the electric SUV market at the right price. Powered by GM’s Ultium platform (the same one underpinning Chevy, Cadillac, and GMC EVs), the Honda Prologue includes up to 296 miles range. With the $7,500 federal tax credit, Tesla Model Y prices fall to as low as $37,490.

Cadillac has revealed an entry EV for the GM luxury brand that doesn’t seem so entry-level in size, technology, or price. The 2025 Cadillac Optiq is set to cost about $54,000 including destination when it arrives later this year with a range of around 300 miles, according to Cadillac. There are many details to linger on.

With a little help, a Honda EV Co-developed with General Motors, the Prologue rides on the Ultium EV platform that is also shared with a quarter of SUV—the Cadillac Lyriq , Chevrolet Blazer , Equinox EV and Acura ZDX. Cadillac Lyriq sent out a recall notice for an ABS software issue for a small portion of its vehicles after this was written.
