GM will build the Cadillac ELR, a luxury coupe featuring extended-range electric technology, at the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly, General Motors North America President Mark Reuss said Tuesday. The ELR is the production version of Cadillac’s Converj, a concept vehicle revealed at the North American International Auto Show in 2009.

GreenCarReports cites an unnamed source at GM who says that the Cadillac Converj luxury plug-in coupe ( earlier post ) is now back in the GM product plan. The extended range electric vehicle, introduced as a concept at the Detroit auto show in January 2009, was said to be slated for production ( earlier post ).

The Detroit News reported that GM has decided to produce the Cadillac Converj, an extended range electric vehicle derived from the Voltec platform. Cadillac included the Converj concept car at the 2009 North American International Auto Show. A production date has not been set, according to the report.
