GM announced that the Cadillac Converj extended range electric vehicle concept ( earlier post ) is moving forward as a production car that will be called the Cadillac ELR. Cadillac will reveal another new concept car tomorrow (18 August) at a special event prior to the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

GM will build the Cadillac ELR, a luxury coupe featuring extended-range electric technology, at the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly, General Motors North America President Mark Reuss said Tuesday. The ELR is the production version of Cadillac’s Converj, a concept vehicle revealed at the North American International Auto Show in 2009.

GreenCarReports cites an unnamed source at GM who says that the Cadillac Converj luxury plug-in coupe ( earlier post ) is now back in the GM product plan. The extended range electric vehicle, introduced as a concept at the Detroit auto show in January 2009, was said to be slated for production ( earlier post ).
