Together with E.ON, Audi is building a solar energy park on the roofs of the two logistics centers of its plant in Gy?r This will create Europe’s largest photovoltaic system installed on a building at the Audi Hungaria plant in Gy?r. We were the first premium manufacturer to have our CO2 footprint measured and certified in 2014.

SK Innovation will initially invest US$1.148 billion in SK Battery Hungary (SKBH) to build its third European factory in Iváncsa, Hungary, with a production capacity of 30 GWh per year. SK’s first and second European plants are also located in Hungary (Komárom); the expected third plant will be the largest.

Samsung SDI has decided to use Hungary as its Li-ion battery production base in Europe. The new facility in Hungary will enable Samsung SDI to establish a global triangular production structure along with existing plants in Ulsan, Korea and Xian, China.

Mercedes-Benz is taking another step to scale up development and production of next-generation high-performance battery cells and modules by expanding its battery supply relationship with CATL through CATL’s newly announced battery plant in Debrecen, Hungary. The green-field project in Hungary will be a giant leap in CATL’s global expansion.

GS Yuasa Corporation will establish a manufacturing subsidiary company, GS Yuasa Hungary Ltd. in Hungary and build a new plant for lithium-ion batteries. GS Yuasa will also consider manufacturing lithium-ion cells in this plant in future. Initial annual production capacity will be 500,000 batteries.

The BMW Group is building a high-voltage battery assembly for the vehicles of the NEUE KLASSE at its site in Hungary. Cell manufacturers will use cobalt, lithium and nickel that include a percentage of secondary material, i.e. raw materials that are not newly mined, but already in the loop, in production of battery cells.
