Rolls-Royce starts build of UltraFan aero-engine; 25% fuel efficiency improvement over first generation Trent

Rolls-Royce has officially started building the world’s largest aero-engine, UltraFan. Work on the first module is underway at the DemoWorks facility in Derby, UK, and the demonstrator engine, which has a fan diameter of 140 inches, will be completed by the end of the year. Bosch Engineering and Ligier Automotive present Ligier JS2 RH2 with hydrogen engine at Le Mans

Just a few months into a joint innovation project ( earlier post ), engineers from Bosch Engineering and Ligier Automotive have built a high-performance vehicle with a hydrogen engine. The vehicle features a V6 hydrogen engine and a carbon monocoque that integrates three 700-bar type IV hydrogen cylinders from Hexagon Purus.

Rolls-Royce announces new hydrogen engine program; updates on hybrid-electric research

Rolls-Royce is planning a comprehensive series of rig and engine tests to prove hydrogen can safely and efficiently deliver power for small-mid size aircraft from the mid-2030s onwards. Two ground tests are planned: on a Rolls-Royce AE 2100 engine in the UK this year and a Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 jet engine at a future date.
