Shenzhen, China is planning to have 35,000 electric vehicles on the road within 3 years, said vice-mayor Tang Jie at the C40 Hong Kong Workshop. Shenzhen aims to build an electric car base at the national level during the 12 th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) period, Tang said earlier this month.

EV Engineering in Australia ( earlier post ) recently unofficially broke the distance record for a production electric car, achieving 1,886 (1,172 miles) kilometers of driving over a 24-hour period. It shows that with battery switch, the age of the electric car has truly arrived. We are very proud of the team’s efforts.

The new R&D Tech Center China has a gross floor area of 55,000 m 2 and integrates an office building as well as a test building with state-of-the-art testing facilities, a workshop, a warehouse and testing-car parking lots. The new test building can accommodate more than 300 test vehicles at the same time.

One of the steps would be to bring in more environmentally friendly aspects that could be implemented into the municipal buildings and later into residences.
