Buick has strengthened its commitment to electrification in China with the launch of the VELITE 7 electric vehicle and VELITE 6 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). The VELITE 7 is the first all-electric SUV in Buick’s new energy vehicle portfolio, offering 500 kilometers (311 miles) of range on a single charge.

Consumer preference for ICE vehicles or hybrid/PHEVs appears to be another. Meanwhile, Cadillac sales have been dipping -- except for the Lyriq EV, which had a rough start last year but has sold much better through the first quarter this year. Looking at the sales declines, the problem might not be powertrains.
