BMW M GmbH is introducing its first high-performance car with an electrified drive system. The BMW XM is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system comprising a V8 gasoline engine and electric motor that delivers combined fuel consumption of 1.6 – 1.5 The BMW XM is also the first BMW M original since the BMW M1.

BMW has introduced the new Active Hybrid e-bike featuring a significant power boost. The rider can adjust the degree of pedal assistance with ease via the new display; four different power modes (from ECO (+50%) to TURBO (+275%)) can be selected up to a maximum 25 km/h (16 mph). E-bikes place very specific demands on their saddles.

BMW is bringing its new 330e iPerformance plug-in hybrid ( earlier post ) to US dealers this summer starting at $44,695 including Destination and Handling. The BMW 330e iPerformance offers a system output of 248 hp and peak torque of 310 lb-ft (420 N·m), allowing a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 BMW iPerformance.

In a simultaneous—and video linked—unveil in New York, London and Beijing, BMW introduced the production version of its i3 battery-electric vehicle on Monday. Doolan led BMW NA and Volvo Cars NA to record sales in the 1990s and 2000s. It can reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in about six seconds and achieve a top speed of 201 km/h (125 mph). The number puts the carmaker close to its goal of having 40 locations across the country by the end of June 2009.
