Volvo Cars launches all-electric Volvo C40 Recharge; all cars to be pure electric by 2030

The C40 Recharge propulsion consists of twin electric motors, one on the front and one on the rear axle, powered by a 78 kWh battery that can be fast-charged to 80% in about 40 minutes. It offers an anticipated range of around 420 km (261 miles), which is expected to improve over time via over-the-air software updates.

In February 2022 and also under the HECTOR initiative, Aberdeen City Council unveiled the UK’s first refuse collection vehicle (RCV)—a Mercedes-Benz Econic with a 250 kW Hyzon electric motor coupled to an Allison 3000 Series transmission in conjunction with a 45 kW fuel cell. Wietholt is also a service partner of Allison Transmission.

SAIC showcases battery-electric Maxus EV80 van range at IAA

Toyota Motor Europe to supply fuel cell modules for train project as member of FCH2RAIL consortium

Toyota Motor Europe (TME) Fuel Cell Business will supply and integrate fuel cell modules into a zero-emission train prototype as part of the FCH2RAIL project in Europe. An alternative is purely battery-powered trains, but these have a limited range of operation (30 to 70 kilometers), depending on the route profile and outside temperatures.

PowerCell in EU project to develop and operate a refuse truck with fuel cells

REVIVE will place 15 fuel cell refuse vehicles to be tested in 8 different cities or regions in Europe: Breda, Helmond, Amsterdam, and Groningen (the Netherlands), Antwerp (Belgium), Bolzano and Merano (in South Tyrol, Italy) and Gothenburg (Sweden).
