Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) will start using 30 electric trucks to make “last mile” deliveries to local customers in Belgium. Through a key partnership with Renault Trucks, the beverage manufacturer is electrifying one-fifth of its truck fleet and creating the largest fleet of electric trucks in Belgium.

UK-based Elektromotive has appointed The PluginCompany to install networks of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Belgium and Luxembourg. Installations at other LeasePlan locations will follow in 2010, supporting the company’s commitment to increasing the availability of low- and zero-emissions vehicles within its European fleets.

The Volvo C30 Electric will be manufactured and delivered to leasing customers throughout Europe, including in Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands and Norway. Tests on a fleet of about 50 cars have been conducted since autumn 2010, mainly internally at the Volvo Car Corporation. The car is recharged from a regular household power socket.

Volvo has received an order for 11 electric hybrid buses and 2 ABB automated electric bus fast-chargers to the city of Namur in Belgium with public transport authority and operator TEC. This is the largest order to date for the company’s electric bus system. TEC is buying the bus system as a turn-key solution. ABB bus chargers.

De Lijn, the public transport operator (PTO) in the Flemish part of Belgium, is ordering 44 new articulated plug-in e-hybrid buses; further, the operator confirmed the upgrade of 280 if its current hybrid buses into e-hybrids. De Lijn introduced its first hybrid buses in its fleet in 2009, and currently operates 530 hybrid buses.

Battery recharging takes 3 to 4 minutes with opportunity charging. OppCharge is now being implemented as a common interface in more than 12 countries. The Volvo 7900 Electric Hybrid operates quietly and exhaust emission-free on electricity for about 70% of its route. Energy consumption is about 60% lower than for a corresponding diesel bus.
