French government data from 2017 show that 90% of the registered private hire vehicles, which includes Uber, were diesel cars. Uber’s CEO tells us they ‘do the right thing, period.’

Medium-sized battery-electric cars are on average 14% cheaper to run than equivalent diesels today, if slow charging overnight near home and/or fast charging at preferential rates are available. T&E’s lifecycle CO 2 emission calculator estimates that today EVs cut CO 2 emissions by two-thirds on average across Europe compared to diesel cars.

Diesel vehicles may be totally banned as they wont meet the regulations of BS6 round 2.

As the trend toward cleaner technologies with reduced exhaust emissions continues through the use of catalytic converters, diesel particulate filters (DPF), and improved fuels and engines, non-exhaust PM will soon surpass exhaust emissions and may well become dominant by 2020 both in terms of emissions and contributions to air quality.

Six Member States exceeded their NO x emission ceilings in 2015.

In Europe, a new report from the European Environment Agency (EEA) found that the average car sold in the EU in 2012 was 9% more fuel-efficient than the average three years before, due to improved technology and an increase in the share of diesel cars. Diesel vehicles represent 55% of the newly registered vehicle fleet. CFA report.
