Volvo has received an order for 11 electric hybrid buses and 2 ABB automated electric bus fast-chargers to the city of Namur in Belgium with public transport authority and operator TEC. These benefits reduce the total cost of ownership for the city. This is the largest order to date for the company’s electric bus system.
Between 2010 and 2017, the highest numbers of electric buses in Europe were registered in the United Kingdom (~200), the Netherlands (~175), Belgium (~140), Germany (~90) and Austria (~75). Consumers also tend to be worried about the cost of electric vehicles, issues linked to the driving range and high maintenancecosts.
As such, transport operators benefit when it comes to maintenance work and the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Over the course of 2020, the demo fleet of 15 electric buses in total will then be running customers’ services in five European countries (Germany, Spain, Luxembourg, Belgium, France).
At the Brussels Motorshow in Belgium, Renault Pro+ introduced two new electric light commercial vehicles—New Kangoo Z.E. In 2017, Renault Pro+ will also be rolling out a number of other connected services dedicated to business users, starting with two prioritary service families, “Fleet Management” and “Predictive Maintenance”.
If the C40 Recharge, built in Ghent, Belgium, is any indication of what is to come, Volvo is off to a solid start with its plans to never put another drop of gasoline in any of its models beginning in 2030. Because of this we don’t address issues such as long-term reliability or total cost of ownership.
Finally, in the fall, we announced the rebrand of Blue Corner into Blink Charging Belgium. To support Blink’s EV fleet customers, we signed an agreement with Amerit Fleet Solutions to provide preventative maintenance to our growing number of fleet customers.
