Volvo Cars reported global sales of 48,520 in January, up 2% compared to the same month last year. Sales of Volvo Cars´ Recharge models of fully electric and plug-in hybrid cars increased by 31% in January year-on-year, accounting for 40.7% of all Volvo cars sold globally during the month.

Volvo is reportedly shifting EV production to Belgium ahead of schedule. Production of the new Volvo EX30 and EX90 is moving to Belgium to avoid expected tariffs on electric vehicles made in China. Volvo announced it planned to build its new low-cost EX30 at its Ghent plant in Belgium last October.

Volvo has officially announced plans to delay U.S. delivery of its EX30 budget compact electric vehicle (EV) until 2025, as the company moves production from China to Belgium. “It was our hope to invite you to configure your new Volvo EX30 at this time,” Volvo wrote in an email to one customer.
