Cummins will expand PEM electrolyzer manufacturing capacity at its Oevel, Belgium, factory to 1 gigawatt with the support from the Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) Hy2Tech program. The expansion in Belgium adds to Cummins’ already scaling global electrolyzer manufacturing footprint.

Volvo Cars is tripling electric car manufacturing capacity at its plant in Ghent, Belgium as it prepares to meet fast growing demand for its Recharge line-up of chargeable cars. The capacity increase comes as Volvo Cars also reports its full-year sales results for 2020, which showed a strong growth in demand for the company’s Recharge models.

Plug signed a 30-year concession agreement to build the plant at the Belgian port, the second-largest in Europe. Plug will build in the port’s NextGen District, an area dedicated to companies supporting the circular economy.
