I met with Preeti Gupta, a freelancer with the BBC. Each trolley is kitted out with all the components that are required for making the bike. The PMSM motor is not being made in house, but there are plans to do that soon. As Lithium prices increase, like oil, there would be more exploration.

Electric car supporters are rising to defend General Motors’ development of the Chevy Volt after the Obama Administration’s automotive task force proclaimed that the car was probably too expensive to be commercially successful in the near future. Those cars will reduce oil demand at most by about 1/5th of one percent.

And in a true smart grid, electric cars will not only be able to draw on electricity to run their motors, they will also be able to do the reverse: send electricity stored in their batteries back into the grid when it is needed. Oil is the alternative. Are we going to burn more oil, natural gas, or (gasp) coal to produce it?
