Thanks to US golf cart maker E-Z-GO , which partnered with National Calendar Day to help establish National Golf Cart Day in celebration of the brand’s 70th anniversary, we can now all celebrate these pint-sized car replacements with their own holiday.

The Chevrolet Volt and Nissan Leaf earned the highest safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in the first US crash test evaluations of plug-in electric cars. IIHS says that the result demonstrates that automakers are using the same safety engineering in new electric cars as they do in gasoline-powered vehicles.

Many Chinese makers of electric cars are introducing advanced assisted driving features on their mass-production cars. Last fall, Japan suspended its test of driverless golf carts that travel 7 mph after one of them hit the pedal of a parked bicycle. No one was injured. The testing resumed in March. automaker Tesla.

I’m talking about Low Speed Vehicles (LSVs) , the official term for what many people call Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs). But it doesn’t have to be that way.
