The University of Houston (UH) will develop a battery using a novel water-based, lithium-ion chemistry that makes use of sustainable, low-cost, high-energy, organic materials. If successful, UMD’s water-based battery would achieve the performance standards of lithium-ion batteries, but would be smaller, lighter, and less expensive.
