Denmark is planning a hydrogen island designed to generate about 1 million tonnes of offshore hydrogen starting in 2030. Airplanes, for example, won’t be able to fly long distances on battery power. The technology to produce hydrogen by electrolyzing water has been around for more than 200 years.

Researchers from Chalmers University of Technology and Technical University of Denmark have shown that thin alloy films of single-target co-sputtered platinum-yttrium exhibit up to 7x higher specific activity (13.4 ± 0.4 The nanometer-thin alloy films effectively transform oxygen (red) and protons (white) into water.

Honda next year will offer Californians futuristic sedans that can travel 300 miles (480 km) or more on a tank of hydrogen gas while emitting nothing more toxic than pure water vapor. Most recently, Toyota announced that its fuel cell sedan would also be available in the UK, USA, Germany and Denmark during the summer of 2015.

Ive found it facinating how car commercials changed the main MPG number they promoted before gas went over $4 a gallon as city miles. If our country is going to spend money like a drunk sailor we should have spent it on building renewable energy power plants like Wind and Geothermal. It is 12 years later. Way to go morons.
