A new generation of the pioneering mid-sizer has just launched, with 45 per cent larger battery (now 20kWh), a pure electric range of up to 84km (NEDC), all-wheel-drive and seating for up to seven.

I personally love this distinctive grid at the front, it really looks like it means business. The charging flap is located here at the front left of the vehicle, this opens which opens like so to reveal your Type 2 and your CCS connector. The CCS connector is your public rapid charge port. Still, that’s impressive.

If everyone could hear Ed talk about the smart grid and how plug-in cars make it possible to inventory electricity then we’d already be building that grid today. There’s three different plug-in alternatives for you below, a Tesla, a Mitsubishi MiEV and a Plug-In hybrid coverted Prius. The batteries work just fine.

But Frank’s worried about how much the batteries cost and how much they weigh, and how much room they take up in the trunk. Maybe Frank’s just not that into batteries. Maybe Frank is in the dark on those.
