With alternative fuel vehicles now approaching 1% of new vehicle production, however, they are in fact beginning to have a “ measurable and meaningful impact ” on overall new vehicle fuel economy and CO 2 emissions. In the analysis, EPA uses overall fuel economy in mpg equivalent (mpge) and tailpipe CO 2 emission values.

e-POWER uses a highly efficient gasoline engine to generate electricity for the electric motor that propels the vehicle. The second-generation e-POWER system features an all-new electric motor and inverter. Electric motor torque was increased by 10% and output by 6%. The new inverter is 40% smaller and 30% lighter.

One of the electric motors is for propulsion and always connected to the wheels, and it’s connected to the gas engine via a clutch, while the other is connected to the engine primarily as a generator. liter engine without the electric motors, to get up to 32/41/36.
