Peisert notes that researchers at Berkeley Lab are currently exploring applications for blockchain areas that are strategically important for DOE, such as tracking data used in scientific research, or tracking energy generation and consumption on the US power grid. Blockchain could be a part of a solution for this problem.

Tanenbaum went on to serve as president of AT&T’s New Jersey Bell (now part of Verizon ) in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1949 from Johns Hopkins University , in Baltimore, and earned a Ph.D. At the time, Bell Labs was the research arm of AT&T. He retired in 2019.
