He left MIT in 1959 to join Electronic Communications, now part of Raytheon. in engineering from Johns Hopkins University , in Baltimore. During his tenure at the company, he oversaw the design and construction of the Clinch River Breeder Reactor project, a sodium-cooled nuclear facility in Tennessee.
