First unveiled on Tundra, this exceptional hybrid produces 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. Fuel economy estimates are not available at this time, but Toyota expects it to be extremely competitive at the top of the segment—and a huge improvement over the previous generation (14 or 15 mpg US combined, for 4WD or 2WD models, respectively).

This is a similar arrangement to the full-size Toyota Tundra pickup truck and Toyota Sequoia SUV, which share the LX’s GA-F body-on-frame platform. Like the Toyota models, mpg wasn’t a priority. Available in five trim levels and only in all-wheel drive, the Corolla Cross is rated at 194 hp while returning an estimated 37 miles per gallon (combined city/highway). In terms of fuel economy, the Nissan offers a claimed 18 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway on the rear-drive models. Meanwhile, the hybridized Toyota is supposed to offer up to 22 MPG city and 24 MPG on the highway. Toyota also has more features available.
