The production model 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ EV has made its debut. With testing of Cadillac’s inaugural electric luxury SUV running ahead of schedule, the brand announced that customers may place order reservations beginning in September 2021, with initial availability starting the first half of 2022.
Cadillac engineers recently completed the “80 percent” validation drive for the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ—a critical milestone in Cadillac’s first luxury EV’s development, marking a transition to the final stage prior to production. Initial availability first half of 2022. Actual production model will vary.
Entry-Level Cadillac Electric SUV Ready to cross the bridge The 2025 Optiq will be the entry-level all-electric SUV for Cadillac when it goes on-sale in early 2026. The Optiq will be part of an ever-expanding Cadillac EV line-up of Lyriq, Vistiq, Escalade IQ, Escalade IQL and Celestiq.
Initial sales of the 2014 Cadillac ELR extended range electric luxury coupe ( earlier post ) will begin in January in all major US metropolitan areas. With an all-electric range of about 35 highway miles (56 km), and a total range in excess of 300 miles (482 km), the ELR offers fuel economy of 82 MPGe, Cadillac estimates.

Cadillac unveiled the first 2017 Crossover Touring 5 (XT5), a comprehensively upgraded luxury crossover and the cornerstone of a new series of crossovers. In August at Tech Day in Shanghai, GM announced that in 2022, 5G will be available on all new Cadillac models and most Chevrolet and Buick vehicles going forward. Premium Cruising Cadillac did not design nor will they be selling the Lyriq as a performance or sport midsize SUV. It baffles me, but heck, go for it!
For our 20th installment in the Cadillac Eldorado series, we turn the page to 1959 and a new generation of Cadillacs. The 1957 sales slump was credited to refreshed styling at GM (Cadillac and Buick in particular) that looked dated next to Exner’s 1957 Forward Look on Chrysler and Imperial models.
The product people at Cadillac made a crucial decision early in the Fifties with regard to the positioning of the second generation Eldorado: It would be less expensive, and less special. Cadillac was on top of the luxury world in the Fifties, and Eldorado sales jumped from 532 cars in 1953 to 2,150 in 1954.
In our last Eldorado entry , we discussed the exterior differences between Cadillac’sstandard Series 62 convertible and the limited production Eldorado. & All gauges, the radio, and the central heater vent were identical between both Cadillacs. That price was double the ask of a standard Ninety-Eight convertible.
