Toyota has taken covers off its electric bZ Concept compact SUV, looking near production ready and primed to be an EV version of the next-generation C-HR. Revealed at this month’s Los Angeles Auto Show, the bZ Concept joins the Tesla-fighting bZ3 electric sedan revealed last month and bZ4X electric SUV due on-sale in Australia in 2023.

Speaking against the din of sports cars speeding in the distance, Calder hit out at the UK government’s goal of banning the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2035.

Mitsubishi does plug-in hybrids (like in the Outlander ), Toyota does conventional hybrids (like the RAV4 ), and Nissan does e-Power. You can get into a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid for $40,550, but Nissan does say it will look to expand the tech across cheaper trim levels in the future. CarPlay and Android Auto are along for the ride here, too.

Audi is re-introducing a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) to its Australian line-up from mid-2023 in the form of the Q5 55 TFSI e luxury medium SUV. litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine mated with a 105kW/350Nm electric motor integrated into the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission for a combined output of 270kW and 500Nm.

BYD ute BYD ute patent shows what the EV ute will look like BYD is the biggest threat to Tesla globally and it’s also shaping up to give the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger something to worry about with a new ute. Toyota showed off a concept car called the EPU (or electric pick-up) alongside an electric version of the LandCruiser.

We at Team HT Auto were in Kochi recently to find the answers to just that. There is wireless support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay although during our test run, only the former worked. The Thar Roxx gets a wireless charging pad as well as a high-powered Type-C charging points and conventional USB ports.
