The BMW Brilliance plug-in hybrid concept. have presented a concept plug-in hybrid sedan based on the long wheelbase version of the BMW 5 Series Sedan. The ultimate goal is the concept of a Megacity Vehicle (MCV) that meets the demands of a sustainable mobility solution for congested urban areas. The feedback from customers testing the MINI E and the BMW ActiveE will be fed directly into series production of the MCV, which the BMW Group will be launching under a new sub-brand in 2013.

BMW will partner with composites expert SGL Group to construct a new plant in Moses Lake, Washington, that will manufacture lightweight carbon-fiber materials for auto industry applications. The first was the two-seat Mini E, of which 600 examples are on test in the U.S., Europe, and U.K.
