Vehicle to Grid (V2G) technology is a bi-directional electric grid interface that allows a plug-in to take energy from the grid or put it back on the grid. Recent announcements demonstrate that electric utilities and some auto makers want to make V2G a reality. Smart meters and substations will be integral.

The true impact of electric vehicles should consider the make-up of the power grids where these cars will be used. Toyota still has not made any money on the Prius. I see the technical complexity of hybrids is finally coming home to roost at Toyota, which has superb engineering. market b y the end of 2009. Does that bother you?
