Duplicitous doublespeak has become de rigueur dialect in the auto industry. “We We strongly believe in EVs,” say auto dealers as they support efforts to slow the EV transition. GM edged out fellow brontosaurus Toyota to take the #1 spot in US sales, and also scored #1 in sales of SUVs and trucks.

The Auto Alliance has sent a letter to EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt requesting that the US Environmental Protection Agency withdraw the Final Determination on the Appropriateness of the Model Year 2022-2025 Light-Duty Vehicle Greenhouse Gas Emissions Standards under the Midterm Evaluation which EPA announced on 13 January 2017.

This past week not only had the usual automaker electrification declarations and teases of EVs to come such as the Kia EV6 and Lexus LF-Z concept EV, but we had a huge April Fools’ joke from Volkswagen. According to the Asian auto industry gurus at ZoZo Go , it’s the strongest product debut in the history of four-wheeled vehicles.

The Model Y is not the best driving EV of 2022 (it’s still comfortably outdone by the Kia EV6 and the Tesla Model 3 is nicer to drive, too) or the most daring (I’d stick the Genesis GV60 high on that list).
