In 2010, electric vehicles still represented a niche market. Evolution of M1 category registrations of BEV and PHEV in Europe between 2010 and 2017. Although still small compared to conventional passenger cars, the e-vehicle market share has increased steadily in Europe, with some countries witnessing impressive growth.

With the pandemic spreading across the globe, strict lockdowns in key markets, combined with consumer panic and economic uncertainty, have all contributed to the huge decrease in sales last month. Registrations fell in all 27 markets, but with varying severity. This downward trend is not simply due to the restrictions of free movement.

The hotly anticipated car excelled during its first full month on the European market and became the best-selling BEV. Overall, the European car market registered its sixth consecutive month of decline in February 2019, as 1.14 Although BEV market share remained marginal at 1.9%, their volume increased by 92% to 20,000 registrations.

Austria – 1,192 Model 3 cars sold . The Volvo XC40 PHEV, Renault Zoe, and Volkswagen ID.4 4 rounded out the top 5 models in the European plug-in market. In March, there were 5,567 Volvo XC40 PHEV vehicle registrations in Europe. Austria – 1,192 Model 3 cars sold . Norway – 2,169 Model 3 cars sold.

Sales of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and battery-electric vehicles (BEV) continued to increase—last year by 42%. Around 97,000 BEVs were registered in 2017, a 51% increase compared to 2016, while sales of new PHEVs increased by 35%. However the share of these categories in the new fleet remains low (1.5 %).
