The FLIRT Akku vehicles are designed to replace the current diesel fleet and will enable sustainable operation on lines that are only partially electrified. The FLIRT Akku vehicles are the battery-powered version of Stadler’s best-selling FLIRT model, which has already sold over 2,500 units worldwide.

This includes the completion of a fleet of Design Verification prototypes for engineering development and testing, as well as a fleet of Product Verification vehicles that will be evaluated by customers in London and Paris in mid-2022. The 16-tonne vehicle is the first of the four variants which range between 7.5- and 18-tonnes.

At the recent Paris Motor Show, Faurecia showed the Amminex solution for commercial vehicles, as well as an ASDS system in a new format for passenger cars. In increasing its participation to 91.5%, Faurecia expects to intensify the development of this technology for both commercial vehicles and passenger cars.

Advancing these ideas consistently, the sales of MAN’s first fully electric-powered production vehicle are now underway with the eTGE. Around 70% of light commercial vehicles used in urban areas travel fewer than 100 kilometers per day on average. As with all TGEs, the emergency brake assist (EBA) continues to be installed as standard.

Volta began series production in Austria ahead of those planned deliveries in Q3 2023, but things started to go south once its battery supplier Proterra filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last summer.

EEV (Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle) is a European classification used for engines which comply with a more stringent exhaust emission standard that reduces particulate emissions by roughly a further one-third compared to Euro 5 limits. Incentives are offered for this technology in some European countries.
