At its Dakar debut in January 2022, the Audi RS Q e-tron ( earlier post ) series hybrid set standards in efficiency and competitiveness of e-mobility in motorsport. With this fuel mixture, the Audi RS Q e-tron saves more than 60 percent in carbon dioxide emissions. The RS Q e-tron therefore requires a larger tank volume.

In what certainly looks like just the latest walkback in EV ambitions, an outlet across the pond is reporting that Audi may be shoving its transition to an all-electric manufacturer by a few years. Up to this point, the brand has said it’d be fully weaned off gasoline by 2033 – but that timeline is now up in the air.

Audi is offering the revamped A4 with many engine options equipped with 12V and 48V mild-hybrid systems (MHEV). This also applies to the Audi S4 TDI (combined fuel consumption 6.3 – 6.2 g/mi), with a diesel V6 TDI under the hood for the first time, a 48-volt main electrical system and an electric powered compressor (EPC).

Globally, by 2025, Audi is aiming to have 30 electrified models on sale, with 20 of those vehicles fully electric. In the US, Audi has already introduced five production models: the Audi Q5 TFSI e, A7 TFSI e and A8 TFSI e plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) as well as the e-tron all-electric SUV and upcoming e-tron Sportback.
