In the analysis, EPA uses overall fuel economy in mpg equivalent (mpge) and tailpipe CO 2 emission values.

Audi of America is introducing four new TDI clean diesel models for the US market at the Los Angeles Auto Show. liter V6 TDI clean diesel models will include the Audi A8, A7, A6, Q5 and an updated Q7 TDI. Each TDI vehicle delivers up to 30% better fuel economy and 30% lower carbon dioxide emissions than gasoline engines.

The new Audi A8, scheduled for release in 2018, features a multi-material body structure ( earlier post ) consisting of more than 40% steel. However, each material used in vehicle production contributes to lightweighting and improves fuel economy, but each does so at a different cost to the manufacturer—and to the environment.
