Virginia Clean Cities announced that 1,000 vehicles have been successfully converted to run on propane autogas through the Southeast Propane Autogas Development Program (SPADP). Program fleets significantly save on fuel costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by running vehicles on American-made propane autogas. .;

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell has signed two pieces of legislation that promote the use of natural gas, electric or other alternative-fueled vehicles in the Commonwealth. He also signed a new executive order setting out the state alternative fuel plan required by House Bill 2282. —Governor McDonnell.

The West Virginia University (WVU)-based National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium ( NAFTC ) has created a suite of modern technology products that put knowledge about specific electric drive and alternative fuel vehicles at the fingertips of first responders.

These projects put more than 9,000 alternative fuel and energy-efficient light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles on the road, and establish 542 refueling locations across the country. The project will deploy 502 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles through 119 public and private fleets throughout the state.

The National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium at West Virginia University (WVU) has received a $1.15-million million grant to develop the state’s second hydrogen production-fueling station. The effort is unique in that it will support obtaining hydrogen fuel by using domestic fossil energy.

Administered by Virginia Clean Cities at James Madison University, the program will deploy nearly 1,200 propane Autogas vehicles, reducing air pollutants such as carbon monoxide, soot and smog-causing emissions when compared to traditional gasoline vehicles.

The study was conducted in 2018 by West Virginia University’s Center of Alternatives Fuels, Engines, and Emissions (CAFEE). West Virginia University’s Center for Alternative Fuels Engines and Emissions (CAFEE) completed two types of tests at different times of the year during 2018 on four Blue Bird school buses.
