Mazda has been repositioning itself into the premium category, and the CX-90 will give it a larger SUV to compete with the Acura MDX , Buick Enclave , Kia Telluride , Hyundai Palisade , Subaru Ascent and Toyota Highlande r. It has a more restrained grille and attractive LED front and rear lighting.

The electric power steering was direct, but a bit light when pushing country lane corners in the Platinum Hybrid Max. The narrow LED head, daytime running, fog and tail lights allowed the designers to take up as little real estate as possible, making for a sleek look.
