The new fueling station is designed to support the recent addition of 56 new CNG-powered collection trucks that serve customers throughout greater Long Beach, California. The new fueling station is Republic’s second alternative fuels facility in Long Beach.

MTS launched the region’s first zero-emissions bus pilot program in 2019, and last year set a plan in motion to convert its entire bus fleet to zero emission by 2040. Additionally, Long Beach Transit (LBT) has ordered 20 next-generation battery-electric 35-foot Xcelsior CHARGE NG heavy-duty transit buses under a three-year contract.

These projects put more than 9,000 alternative fuel and energy-efficient light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles on the road, and establish 542 refueling locations across the country. The project will deploy 502 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles through 119 public and private fleets throughout the state.

The Peterbilt Model 388 tractors are equipped with a Westport HD 15-liter natural gas engine and fuel system. We believe that Peterbilt is a leader in alternate fuel technology.
