UPS is targeting a 20% improvement in fuel economy for its US package delivery fleet from 2000 to 2020. The goal was announced as UPS released the latest annual update of its corporate Sustainability Report. Alternative fuel technology and vehicle deployments also improve UPS’fuel efficiency.

The converted hybrids were developed with Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) and Eaton Corporation, which provided the hybrid-electric systems ( earlier post ). As a result of these efforts, FedEx Express has saved 45 million gallons of fuel or 452,573 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
