A consortium, including Alternative Fuel Technology Inc, is seeking funding available through the Federal Transit Administration’s Transit Investments for Greenhouse Gas and Energy Reduction (TIGGER) programme in a bit to convert 20 hybrid diesel electric buses to hybrid dimethyl-ether (DME)-electric propulsion.

Generally, any alternative energy form that can help reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and limit our reliance on fossil fuels is well-received. It predicts 35 per cent growth in the US; 30 per cent growth in Brazil; and substantial increases in areas including the Asia-Pacific region, France, Germany and Argentina.
