The company plans to do it with a mixture of all-electric vehicles, like the new XC40 Recharge, and plug-in hybrid versions of its SUVs and sedans. The XC90 Recharge is an example of the second group. I averaged 25 mpg over 364 miles of mostly freeway driving. The XC90 Recharge T8 has several drive modes to choose from.

Clean Fleet Report ran a few test loops to get a feel for real world fuel economy and electric range. For increased recharging, there is an “L” button on the gear selector wheel. Our focus is on vehicles that offer the best fuel economy in their class, which leads us to emphasize electric cars, plug-in hybrids, hybrids and diesels.

Using 87 octane fuel, there is a total system of 260 horsepower combined. The Environmental Protection Agency rates fuel economy at 30 mpg highway and combined in hybrid mode, with an impressive 84 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) that measures the pure electric mode. mpg based on the dashboard computer.
