The US Department of Energy (DOE) has selected 25 cost-share projects under the Clean Cities program that will be funded with nearly $300 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Selected projects, by size of award, are: State of Wisconsin’s Wisconsin Clean Transportation Program. Total DOE award: $15,000,000.
Intelligent Power Generation (IPG) will demonstrate the impact of Flameless Ceramic Turbine technology in UK electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, following a £1-million contract from Highways England. Not only can IPG’s technology deliver low-emission, pollutant-free energy on today’s cleaner fuels.
The Methanol Institute (MI) released two new reports on the use of methanol as a safe, efficient and cleanalternativefuel for cars, trucks and buses. Methanol or ethanol addition in gasoline does not have a significant impact on electrical conductivity despite the fact that both alcohols are electrically conductive.
Conversion systems allow vehicles to run on alternativefuels; most conversions involve switching gasoline or diesel vehicles to operate instead on a gaseous fuel such as natural gas or propane; an alcohol fuel; or electricity.
Zhejiang Geely Holding Group’s (Geely Holding) portfolio has a several prominent automotive brands, including Geely Auto, Geometry, Livan, LYNK & CO, Zeekr, Volvo Cars, Polestar, Proton, Lotus, smart, Radar, LEVC, and Farizon Commercial Vehicle. Yesterday, Geely Holding announced that sales across all of its brands grew 4.7%
The deal includes an order for three of Wabtec’s FLXdrive battery locomotives and a collaboration to test ammonia as a potential clean, alternativefuel to replace diesel. Among the advantages of ammonia is the fact that it allows the locomotive a longer range than other carbon-free fuels.
Existing law exempts certain clean, alternative-fuel vehicles from these occupancy requirements, so that a vehicle with a sole occupant may use an HOV lane—if the vehicle displays a Clean Air Vehicle sticker. Yellow HOV stickers (expired).
Currently, 300 fuel-cell vehicles have been placed on California roads and manufacturers expect to increase that to 4,300 by 2014. Fuel cell technology is also being used to power transit buses and forklifts, and to produce electricity for industrial uses. Examples of these will be showcased at some of the tour’s stops.
However, widespread commercial use of electric drive on long-haul and heavy-duty routes is not yet feasible. This is where sustainable fuels play a crucial role as they could be pivotal in reducing the climate impact of transport emissions. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) are considered alternativefuels.
Each of the four recipients will match a percentage of the grant amount with their own funds to purchase compressed natural gas-powered vehicles; retrofit diesel engines with cleaner technology; replace older, more polluting diesel buses with cleaner diesel buses; or purchase hybrid electric-powered buses.
It may soon be easier than ever to get your vehicle converted to run on alternativefuels such as natural gas, propane, alcohol fuel or electricity after the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed new options for car manufacturers.
Twenty five projects have been selected for a collective cash injection of $300million from the US Department of Energy (DOE) under the Clean Cities Programme. The projects will put more than 9,000 alternativefuel and energy efficient vehicles on the road, while establishing 542 refuelling locations across the US.
Installing electric-vehicle (EV) charging stations on your property can benefit your business in many ways — from attracting customers to luring top talent. On the federal, state and local levels, there are a plethora of tax credits for installing electric-vehicle charging stations. Here are some answers to a few common questions.
However, this disparity is anticipated to narrow gradually, fueled by rising disposable income and ushering in a lucrative market for the auto industry. A noticeable shift in consumer demand towards SUVs, electric vehicles (EVs), and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) is expected to significantly impact the industry landscape.
