Carbon dioxide capture company AirCapture and carbon dioxide conversion company OCOchem, along with other partners, have won a $2.93-million The proposed CO 2 capture and conversion plant will be instrumental in helping the company meet these goals. In addition, the project will assess the impact on members of the local community.

The technology has received a California Energy Commission (CEC) grant to develop the process for production of EEB (also called E-xtra by Vitruvian) from WWTP (waste water treatment plant) biosolids and a National Science Foundation (NSF) SBIR Phase 1 grant to characterize EEB as a fuel additive/oxygenate for both gasoline and diesel.

This US-owned and operated manufacturing plant in northern Alabama will be the first of its size in North America. Such a plant would feed a 50,000 metric ton per year conversion plant to produce battery grade lithium hydroxide to support domestic manufacturing of the lithium-ion battery cells to power 750,000 electric vehicles per year.
