According to a new report, the Hyundai IONIQ 6 is the only EV on the market offering fast charging in under 20 minutes, over 350 miles range, and at an affordable starting price. While automakers prepare to launch their next wave of electric vehicles, Hyundai already has an EV that checks all the boxes.

Lithium-ion battery pack prices, which were above $1,200 per kilowatt-hour in 2010, have fallen 89% in real terms to $132/kWh in 2021, according to a new report from BloombergNEF (BNEF). All prices are in real 2021 $, unless stated as nominal.) At the cell level, average BEV prices were just $97/kWh.

Stellantis boss Carlos Tavares has pledged that Jeep’s affordable all-electric SUV will be priced from less than US$25,000 ($A37,500) in the USA – almost US$19,000 less than the cheapest Tesla Model Y. “If you ask me what is an affordable BEV, I would say 20,000 euros in Europe and $25,000 in the US,” Tavares said.

Based on Hyundai’s E-GMP dedicated EV platform, the same one underpinning the IONIQ 5 , the IONIQ 6 offers up to 361 miles of driving range.
