Lutz is a man given to hyperbole — called global warming "a crock of shit" — but in this case, hes right. They leased a few (at a loss) to those that could afford it. A simple, clean, efficient EV that wont run out of juice because of its on-board gas generator. Forget the black helicopter conspiracies.
