The first nine electric drive cars to become eligible for the Plug-in Car Grant of up to £5,000 (US$7,900) in the UK are: Mitsubishi iMiEV; smart fortwo electric drive; Peugeot iON; Citroen CZero; Nissan Leaf; Tata Vista EV; Toyota Prius Plug-in; Vauxhall Ampera and Chevrolet Volt. PSA Peugeot-Citroen’s new breakthrough hybrid air technology revealed just last month (see story) is to make its debut in Geneva next month, attached to a Citroen C3.

This steep reduction was in large part caused by the last-minute purchases made in December, due to the impending introduction of the new CO 2 emissions regulation. Europe demonstrated that the widespread adoption of EVs is increasingly feasible, and will become a likely reality once the cars become more affordable.

Citroen, the French automotive giant, has achieved a milestone by becoming India’s first multinational car manufacturer to export locally manufactured electric vehicles (EVs) to international markets. In addition to the e-C3, Citroen has also commenced exporting the C3 to ASEAN and African markets.
