The best-known wearable energy-harvesting tech today is, of course, solar, which pulls down electrons from sunlight or ambient light. A light human health sensor would be no use to biologists trying to keep a tracker on a bison for the rest of its life. Solar won’t work for nocturnal animals or creatures in low-light environments.

In the Toyota Mirai, compressed hydrogen fuel is stored in three 10,000-psi carbon-fiber-reinforced high-pressure tanks: one mounted longitudinally in the center of the car; another mounted transversely under the rear seat, and a third below the battery. The three tanks together hold about 11 pounds (5 kg) of hydrogen.

The twin, horizontal kidney grilles, with LED surround lighting, has the narrowest of narrow LED daytime running lights squinting from the upper outer edges of the fenders. The slim LED accent lights above the A pillars add an interesting touch. The ambient lighting can be set to any of the three M colors–red, blue or violet.

Clean Fleet Report reviewed the 2020 Toyota RAV4 Prime that shares its plug-in hybrid technology with the 2022 Lexus NX 450h+. The 2022 design on both models begins with a new front end featuring daytime running lights that now sit above the LED headlights. The 14-theme ambient lighting added a soothing touch. NX 450h+ AWD.
