General Motors will build its new generation midsize diesel engine family at the GM Manufacturing Poland plant in Tychy. liter four-cylinder diesel engine is scheduled for 2017. This is the biggest investment in the history of the Tychy plant and includes additional buildings and new manufacturing technology.

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has launched the Battery Cell Research Production Center, a new R&D and large-scale industrial manufacturing plant for lithium-ion cells; the center will receive an investment of €500 million.
