First XL Hybrids XLP plug-in hybrid upfits to be installed on Ford F-150 pickups

XL Hybrids’s XLP plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) upfit solution ( earlier post ) will roll out on Ford F-150 pickup trucks beginning fourth quarter 2017. Ford, with its top-selling half-ton truck for any make and model, was chosen as the first OEM based on XL Hybrids’ order commitments from major fleet customers.

IIHS: small car driver death rates remain high

Small cars and minicars accounted for 15 of the 20 models with the highest death rates for model year 2017, while nearly half of the 20 models with the lowest death rates were luxury SUVs. The average driver death rate for all 2017 models increased to 36 deaths, compared with 30 for 2014 models. Minicars have the highest at 82.

Next 10 report finds California will meet or exceed original target of 1.5M ZEVs by 2025

The report shows that projected global ZEV adoption from 2015 to 2039 (based on the BNEF 2017 forecast) may follow an s-curve, similar to that of smartphone adoption in the US from 2005 to 2015. As of October 2017, 337,483 ZEVs have been sold in California. The average Californian drives 14,435 miles every year.
