EPA fuel economy report finds weight and power leveling off, footprint stable

The report is the authoritative reference for real-world fuel economy, technology trends and tailpipe carbon dioxide emissions, for new personal vehicles sold in the US every year since 1975. Model year (MY) 2016 vehicle fuel economy was 24.7 mpg, or 28%, with an average annual improvement of about 0.5 mpg per year.
